Ghetzler and Moog Form Strategic Alliance to Develop Auxiliary Power Generators for Navy Aircraft

Buffalo Grove, Ill., March 19, 2004--Ghetzler Aero-Power Corporation has reached a strategic alliance with Moog Inc. under which Moog will be a key supplier of actuation systems for Ghetzler’s Low Drag Ram Air Turbine Generator (LD-RATG) products.

The first product to be developed under the agreement will be applied to the U.S. Navy’s EA-6B "Prowler" and EA-18G "Growler" electronic warfare aircraft. Other applications of the ram air turbine are under development for special mission aircraft, high-speed fighters and civilian applications.

The LD-RATG is a ram air turbine-powered auxiliary generator. It features a ducted ram air turbine that automatically adapts to flight conditions and electrical loads. The actuation system to be developed and produced by Moog will be used to adjust the inlet airflow and an internal nozzle to maintain constant turbine speed and generator speed throughout the entire flight and electrical load envelope.

Dr. Richard Ghetzler, founder of Ghetzler Aeropower, said the decision to work with Moog was "based on Moog’s excellent track record of developing flight controls and actuation systems and their superior proposal related to the needs of our LD-RATG."

"Moog's actuation system, consisting of an electromechanical linear actuator and electronic control system, will meet the complete environmental requirements of operating in the EA6B/EA18 flight environment," Ghetzler said.

Under the agreement, Moog will supply the first actuation systems for the first flight-capable LD-RATGs, to be delivered to the Navy's Air Systems Command , NAVAIR in December 2004. These prototypes will undergo further ground testing in preparation for flight testing and evaluation, in preparation for production.

Moog (www.moog.com) is a worldwide manufacturer of precision control components and systems. Moog's high-performance actuation products control military and commercial aircraft, satellites and space vehicles, launch vehicles, missiles and automated industrial machinery. Moog has worked on development contracts for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, a low-rate initial production and a replacement contract for the V-22, regular production on the F/A-18E/F, and legacy production on the F-15 Eagle.

Ghetzler Aero-power Corporation (www.ghetzleraeropower.com) was founded in February of 2000 and recently moved into its new 12,000 sq ft. Research and Development, Test, and Manufacturing facility in Buffalo Grove in March 2003.
