The grant is for application of Ghetzler's invention, “Low Drag Ram Air Turbine Generator” (patent # 6,270,309) to address the SBIR topic entitled, “Advanced Low Drag Ram Air Turbine.” According to Dr. Richard Ghetzler, President and CEO, this program supplements work started by NAVSEA in January and the recently awarded State of Illinois Technology Challenge Grant of $250,000 to GAPC to work on versions of its invention for naval aircraft. “These systems could provide power to the present EA6-B Prowler radar jamming pods and possible follow on to the EA-18G jamming pods,” according to Dr. Ghetzler. “This initial work will involve development of a ground testable model and if successful, would lead to funding next year from the Navy’s SBIR Phase II program for $750,000 to $1 million to develop a flight version and provide flight test support.” |
